Journey down to the underground jewels!
The Amethyst Mine is located in the heart of the National Park in Lapland between the small ski resorts of Luosto and Pyhä.
2000 million years ago in the depths of the ancient mountains, the Amethyst Fell of Lampivaara came into existence. Today, during the winter months it is possible to visit the Mine via a Pendolino snow vehicle, travelling through the snowy forest as you climb to the top of the Fell.
A tour of the mine will include a special talk from a guide with fascinating facts about the Amethyst Mine history and geology. There is also the opportunity to mine for stones and should you find an amethyst – you can keep it!
