Take the Pendolino to the top of Lampivaara Peak, to visit Europe’s only surviving Amethyst Mine. Enjoy the magnificent views from the top of the fell (weather permitting) before embarking on a tour of the mine. The tour will include a special talk with fascinating facts about the history and geology of the Amethyst Mine. There is also the opportunity to mine for stones and should you find an amethyst – you can keep it - so long as it fits within the palm of your closed hand!

Step into a true Arctic tradition wirh pilkki - the beloved Finnish pastime of ice fishing. On our unforgettable New Year Arctic Adventure holiday to Ruka or Suomu, you'll join locals in this peaceful and rewarding activity. During our New Year Arctic Adventure in Ruka and Suomu, you can take the wheel for an unforgettable session of ice karting. After expert instruction from friendly guides, you'll hit the icy track for a few practice laps before the excitement ramps up in a competitive race. Will your name top the leaderboard?
Please note: Drivers must be at least 150cm tall to participate in ice karting. But don't worry - younger adventurers can still join the fun with mini-skidoos, availale under the watchful eye of a trained ranger.
Embark on an unforgettable 3-hour snowmobile safari through the stunning scenery of Lapland. Before setting off, you'll receive full instruction on how to operate a snowmobile safely and confidently. Then, it's time to hit the snowy trails for a relaxed yet thrilling ride across the Arctic landscape.
Each snowmobile accommodates one driver and one passenger, with the option to swap roles halfway through the adventure. Older children can ride as a passenger but they must be at least 140cm tall.
For younger guests or those not driving, the experience is just as magical from the comfort of a snowmobile-drawn-sleigh, guided by one of our expert Arctic guides - a perfect way to enjoy the safari together.
